About Kim – Trauma-Informed Counsellor & Online Therapist
Welcome. I’m Kim, a trauma-informed counsellor and the founder of HeartMindSoulCo. I offer online holistic therapy and in-person sessions. These support emotional healing, nervous system regulation, and deeper self-connection.
A Background in Education and Wellbeing
I began my professional journey in the field of education. While I enjoyed teaching, I soon realised that my deeper passion was in supporting the emotional wellbeing of students. This led me to pursue further studies and complete a Diploma of Counselling.
Over the next eight years, I worked with children and families, primarily within the education system. I also provided support through community-based organisations including Anglicare and headspace. These roles helped me grow a trauma-informed lens and deepen my understanding of parenting, neurodivergence, and emotional regulation.
“Trauma is not just a mental or emotional experience; it is a somatic one, and it imprints itself in the tissues of the body. The body remembers what the mind forgets.”
My Approach to Holistic and Trauma-Informed Therapy
As a trauma-informed counsellor, my priority is to create a safe and respectful space where you feel seen and supported. I integrate talk therapy with somatic tools and Spinal Energetics to support healing on every level — physical, emotional, and energetic.
This approach recognises that healing is not linear. It honours the nervous system, the body’s memory, and your own unique process. Whether we work together online or in person, I tailor each session to support your growth, safety, and self-discovery.
Professional Training and Therapeutic Approach
My approach blends traditional counselling with somatic and energy-based modalities. I hold a Bachelor of Education, a Diploma of Counselling, and several specialist certifications:
Core Qualifications:
Bachelor of Education
Diploma of Counselling
Spinal Energetics Practitioner – Level 1
Specialised Training with Peter Levine:
Introduction to Somatic Experiencing®
Emotional Roots of Physical Pain
Healing Abandonment and Attachment Wounds
Somatic Healing of Childhood Sexual Abuse
Additional Certifications:
Reiki – Level 1
NATI Training (Neurodevelopmental, Attachment, and Trauma-informed)
Member of the International Institute for Complementary Therapists
My work is guided by leaders in trauma research, including Gabor Maté, Stephen Porges, and Peter Levine. They show that trauma impacts both the mind and the body. I believe in addressing healing holistically, integrating the nervous system, somatic memory, and emotional awareness.
What to Expect in a Session
Sessions typically begin with a check-in and a brief discussion about how you're feeling emotionally and physically. From there, we move into a blend of talk therapy and body-based practices — such as breathwork, guided awareness, or Spinal Energetics — depending on your goals.
Whether online or in-person at my Mooroolbark or Monbulk office, sessions are collaborative and paced according to your comfort. My aim is to provide a space where you feel safe, informed, and supported throughout your healing journey.
Who I work with?
I support individuals who are ready for change. Many of my clients have tried traditional talk therapy and are now seeking a deeper, more embodied approach.
You may feel stuck in a fight, flight, freeze, or fawn response. If you're seeking a deeper connection with your body and emotions, I provide a safe and supportive space for healing and growth. I design each session to help regulate the nervous system and process trauma. The goal is to help you build self-awareness and experience a greater sense of calm.
My Mission as a Trauma-Informed Counsellor & Holistic Healer
I believe healing is a collaborative and deeply personal journey. My mission is to provide safe, compassionate, and trauma-informed care that supports the whole person — mind, body, and spirit.
Through a holistic lens, I empower clients to reconnect with themselves, release old patterns, and build resilience. My work is rooted in trust, community, and a belief in the possibility of meaningful change.
FAQs About Trauma-Informed Counselling & Energy Healing
Is this right for me if I’ve never tried energy healing?
Absolutely. I work with many first-time clients and always explain what to expect. You are in full control of your experience.
Do you work with neurodivergent clients?
Yes. I have extensive experience supporting neurodivergent individuals and families. My sessions are flexible and adaptive to your unique needs.
What makes trauma-informed therapy different?
It’s an approach that prioritises safety, trust, and your nervous system’s pace. We never force or push — the work is led by you.
Can I combine this with other therapy or medical care?
Definitely. Many clients see me alongside a psychologist, GP, or allied health team.
Is Spinal Energetics safe for everyone?
Unfortunately not. Spinal Energetics can be a deeply profound and powerful modality and has a range of contraindications.
Pregnancy/ Postpartum
We advise that Spinal Energetics is unsuitable during the first and third trimesters of pregnancy. Spinal Energeics is also not suitable during the first 3-6 months of postpartum.
Although this modality is generally considered safe, and alterations to processes can be made, rare cases may release trauma or a strong emotional response which we don’t recommend during these listed terms.
Children
Spinal Energetics is not suitable for children under 12 years of age. Children between 13-18 need to have their guardian present during treatment.
Elderly
Spinal Energetics practitioners can treat clients up to the age of 75. Clients between the ages of 70 and 75 should be treated with extra caution. It is up to the practitioner's discretion to determine these clients' mobility capabilities and assess if they can cope with treatment.
The following conditions must not be treated by Spinal Energetics:
Each client is obligated to be honest in their new client forms and reveal all relevant conditions to their practitioner. It is then the practitioner's duty of care not to treat these clients and refer them to a specialist who is equipped to advise them.
Diagnosed Severe PTSD
Severe mental health conditions (bipolar, schizophrenia, psychosis)
Currently taking heavy medication that alters brain chemistry (anti-depressant, anti-anxiety, antipsychotic)
Recent physical injuries, fractures and/or surgeries
Epilepsy
History or diagnosis of aneurysms
Cardiovascular problems
History of seizures

I had never tried spinal energetics before my sessions with Kim. Her energy is so warm, grounding and nurturing, and I felt so at ease and comfortable. I’ve had both in-person and online sessions and came away from them all feeling so relaxed, reconnected with my body and had the safe space to unwind and surrender into the release my whole body needed. Thank-you Kim

Kim is so calming, present-minded and kind being in her presence with vulnerability is easy. I wasn’t sure about the concept of spinal energetics and she gave me the confidence to voice that lack of certainty. Prior to the session she explained the process with the perfect amount of information allowing me to relax into the process, knowing what I might (or not) expect. The environment of her studio is peaceful, with a definite sense of calmness. During the session it was interesting to see the effects. I have had two sessions with Kim and the first there was a little bit of movement here and there. The second session brought an emotional release and some more significant movement. Kim explained everything to me afterwards and without knowing some of my background and experience, her sound knowledge of energy matched so much with some of my deeper kept thoughts and experiences. I highly recommend her services.

Kim is the most warm and gentle practitioner I’ve worked with. She cares deeply for the wellbeing of her clients and fills the room with grace and compassion, whenever I arrive. I am grateful that I gave myself the chance to experience this, after initially feeling unsure and worried about what actually happens in sessions. It’s easy to talk yourself out of it because of uncertainty, but do yourself a favour and COMMIT to trying ONE session. You’ll be surprised how good you feel, if you’re willing.

Kim, you are amazing! Thank you for holding space for me to work through things my mind forgot but my body has held on to. Your kind and gentle approach creates a sense of safety, vulnerability and healing. Over the last few sessions I have gone away noticing changes in how I am responding, I am affording myself greater space to be in tune with my body and therefore moving through my day with more ease. This has been one of the best investments i have made on my self improvement journey.
